09-25-2019 11:48 AM. Just purchased an old 5D Mark ii and I am trying to update the firmware. The camera menu seems to be a bit short though. There is no firmware version section at all. I have tried to update it using the EOS utility on the computer, but the firmware section there is greyed out and I can not select it.

It may be an idea to format a card and put the new G7X II firmware on it and put it in the camera and see what happens. It probably looks for the file type on the card and boots up with an update sequence and checks the version. I presume you have checked your serial number and you actually need the update as per Canon's advice on the support site.

My old Canon 5D 2 is up to "2.12." The firmware updates for my Canon 5D mk 4 is 1.33. Fuji will add new features, speed up whatever is too slow, this is even true with their lenses. I have the 60mm macro Fuji lens which was criticized for being two slow so a firmware update was issued to speed up the lens.
