Posted December 27, 2020. You basically need a switched live fuse and a hard wire kit with fuse piggyback. You won't need a 12v socket and connector, the kit replaces the complete power lead. Choose a switched live fuse that does not serve any of the main safety features of the car, for example air bags or abs etc.
Hello I have just added dash cam to my Mondeo 2015 Hybrid via front Cig lighter socket but notice that when I turn ignition off and close up the car power is still running to dash cam and it stays on. Same with rear passenger socket as well. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
I have a MK2 Zetec Mondeo and I want to get to the wires on the cigarette lighter. I removed the ashtray and blanking plate over the lighter but I can't figure out how to remove the lighter. I have a Haynes manual but it doesn't help at all. Thanks Stuart

1. I remember something from my past. The brake lights are on a different circuit, that is why they still work. The tail lights are in some way connected in the cigarette lighter circuit. The lighter circuit may have been shorted blowing that fuse. Check that fuse and see if that could be your problem.

Note the fuse responsible for the cigarette lighter. This model has 2 main boxes with fuses and relays: in the passenger compartment and under the hood. Their performance may differ and depends on the year of manufacture and the country of delivery of the car.
